Dalton, Scotland Notice Boards
Dalton Village required a practical and visually striking solution to display community information in a rural setting with no existing street lighting. The brief called for two external notice boards that would remain clearly visible year-round while withstanding Scotland’s harsh weather conditions.
We designed, manufactured, and installed two bespoke, PIR solar-powered illuminated notice boards positioned at key locations within the village. Each unit featured custom branding on the header panel to reflect local identity, along with a single side-opening, lockable front glazed panel to ensure security and ease of use for community members.
To maximise durability and longevity, both notice boards were finished in a premium black and gold powder-coated paint system, providing enhanced protection against wind, rain, and fluctuating temperatures while maintaining a high-quality aesthetic. The integrated PIR solar lighting solution ensured the boards remained illuminated after dark, but are only activated when you are within 1m of the notice board. This prevents unnecessary illumination and activation by passing vehicles, whilst improving accessibility and engagement in an area without street lighting.
The project has had a notably positive impact on the local community, significantly increasing awareness and participation in village activities.
